Graduate Research Assistant
Yao Sun is a doctoral student in the Applied Developmental Psychology program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Padua, Italy, in 2018, and her Master’s degree in Child and Family Education from The Education University of Hong Kong, in 2019. Yao’s research interests mainly focus on children and adolescents’ social and emotional development, and how some environmental factors, such as family dynamic, socialization practices, and culture, may shape this development. She is particularly interested in children’s temperament such as surgency and effortful control, and social behaviors, such as aggressive behaviors and prosocial behaviors. Currently, Yao’s involved in the CSTARS project.
