Graduate Research Assistant
Hatice Gursoy is a fifth year doctoral student in the Applied Developmental Psychology program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She earned her Bachelor’s degree (2015) and Master’s degree (2018) in Psychological Counseling from Marmara University in Istanbul, Turkey. Her research centers on the positive development of minority youth, specifically focusing on the cultural and familial factors that shape parenting practices and contribute to identity development and positive adjustment in diverse youth populations. Hatice is particularly interested in how cultural, societal, and individual influences promote positive youth development and civic engagement. She is actively involved in Project IMAGE and SAFER.
