Huiguang Ren, M.A.

Graduate Research Assistant

Huiguang is a doctoral student in the Applied Developmental Psychology program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Zhejiang University in 2016 and his Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology from East China Normal University in 2019. Huiguang’s overall research focuses on Asian parents’ parenting cognition, practices, and their contributions to children’s social-emotional development. Huiguang is particularly interested in the associations between cultural-specific parenting practices (e.g., psychological control, filial piety, social comparison) and children’s social adjustment and psychological well-being. He is also interested in examining the relations between food-related experiences in early childhood (e.g., parents’ feeding behavior, food insecurity) and children’s eating behaviors. Huiguang is involved in the CSTARS project and the HDinYA VR Project.
